Flesh

Flesh was a project all about me dealing with my mortality. In the beginning of my sophomore year of college I got into a car accident. Although physically I came out Unscathed, mentally it was very traumatic for me. It made me realize that I am not immortal. A thought that seems to go through all young adults minds. This event made me think of my own death, a thought that I had not had before in my life. It made me realize that every living thing on this planet is just flesh and bone that is early penetrated and hurt. With this thought I decided to create bodies that looked as if they were skinned to show the flesh under the protected layer of skin. This showing what we are under it all, and what we are really made of. This project was difficult to create. First I had to photograph nudes, then I scanned raw meat on a scanner and overlaid it in photoshop to get this final effect.
